Introduction
Obras is a new mobile and tablet application designed to help Construction companies manage their employees’ schedules and operations more effectively. The app seeks to reduce stress and manual labor by allowing users to easily view and manage their entire operations from end to end, from a “global” perspective down to the smallest details. The Lighthouse Masonry clients were motivated to resolve the complex and manually-intensive challenges of managing construction projects, crews, and their schedules.

From idea to execution
Most companies need help accurately assigning employees to work sites, efficiently tracking hours and pay, and communicating changes with their teams.
For most Construction businesses, the logistics of managing teams, job sites, and their schedules is a complex and sometimes frustrating task that requires constant communication, frequent manual updates, and takes multiple steps to ensure proper coverage for said shift or project. Most companies need help accurately assigning employees to work sites, efficiently tracking hours and pay, and communicating changes with their teams.
I collaboratively worked to design a flexible, intuitive mobile and tablet application.
The company used a color-coded complex spreadsheet with team member pictures and roles to track schedules for multiple job sites, and it became unmanageable. I incorporated functionality working with the spreadsheet, such as seeing a comprehensive view and creating a condensed view on the iPad to present complete information.
Companies and workers can register, set up profiles, and track job details on the go.
Workers can keep track of their schedule and work site locations and quickly communicate with team members on their mobile devices. Admins will be able to organize jobs, communicate and keep track of project hours. They can schedule teams and assign roles with a simple drag-and-drop functionality.
